This is our first lesson in a series entitled, Work Smarter not Harder. I'd like you to be aware of the science and practices that can accelerate learning. Metacognition is the awareness and understanding of how you learn and understand. It involves reflecting on your own thinking process and managing conditions to optimize it.

Consider examining your own study and learning habits through the lens of
1. Planning: how intentional do you set aside time for studying? 2. Monitoring: what it keeping you on track and focused? 3. Evaluating: what is working and what needs to be adjusted? |
You can achieve a state of flow where you are learning at the optimal state of mind between boredom and anxiety. It is characterized by optimal engagement. To achieve this state practice
1. Focus: clear distractions, no multitasking. 2. Freedom: don't worry about mistakes, just do and trust your abilities. 3. Feedback: what did you accomplish? set and review goals. 4. 4% challenge: work on something that is challenging, deliberate practice. |
