Developing Our Learning Model
Deliberate practice accelerates learning. The key is to operate on the boundary of what you can and can not do with these four components in place:
1. Specific Goal 2. Intense Focus 3. Immediate Feedback 4. Frequent discomfort |
|
The learning curve is not linear because to improve, you have to be "uncomfortable enough" to come up with a solution to get passed the barriers. At some point along the way you will find yourself somewhere on this curve. Think about a learning experience and then try to remember where you were and how you felt at different times on the learning curve.
|
In an academic setting, the learning curve is longer and often periodic. Progress involves becoming "frustrated enough" over and over again. So throughout the year, you will experience the highs and lows of learning regularly. Think about where you currently would place yourself on the curve at the right?
